UNIT 1: Intro to Batteries
This lesson will introduce the student, through the history of battery development, to the construction and characteristics of the cells and batteries we have in service today. It will start with an explanation of the fundamental difference between the galvanic and electrolytic cells. The limitation of these early designs will be discussed and the importance of Faure’s development of the flat plate method of cell construction as a precursor of today’s batteries will be explained.
